Victory View Vineyard, owned by Mary and Gerry Barnhart, continues to grow and gain attention for its award-winning wines. “We’re doing something different – making wine only from northern grapes we grow right here on our farm. Thanks to ‘buy local’ community support and growing recognition of our wines, we’re experiencing steady growth,” says co-owner Gerry Barnhart.
The Barnhart’s commercial vineyard began with just a quarter acre of marquette vines planted in 2008. Since 2010, the Barnharts have slowly expanded their vineyard adding maréchal foch, la crescent, lacrosse and frontenac. Their French-American hybrid vines thrived on their site, and the wine Gerry crafted received great reviews from family, friends and strangers alike.
In August 2013 the Barnharts opened their winery and tasting room in North Easton in southern Washington County and quickly sold out of their 2012 vintage wines. Their marquette wines quickly won acclaim and the marquette variety gained recognition as a signature grape for the region.
Today the vineyard fills three and a half acres with grapes and has room to expand. Victory View Vineyard grows, produces and bottles seven different styles of wine and has plans to offer more.
