Looking for something to do Easter Weekend? How about purchasing local products to make Easter dinner special? Why not support local businesses and have some fun at the same time? The Upper Hudson Valley Wine Trail is sponsoring our inaugural wine festival, The Taste of Upstate, on April 19 at the Saratoga City Center. The wine, food and music festival will showcase the products of local wineries and local businesses. Along with wineries and breweries the festival will include foods and gifts made by local artisans.
Looking for some delicious maple syrup for your holiday ham recipe? Mapleland Farms will be at the festival providing samples of maple cream, maple mustard, and maple roasted nuts. In addition to selling these products, they will be selling maple syrup, maple sugar, and maple candies including their award-winning maple sugar shapes, their crunchy maple peanut brittle, and their decadent chocolate-dipped maple walnut fudge – a customer’s favorite!
Castle Green Art Glass Studio will be showing off Lucy’s artistic talents. One example of the artist’s work is a grapevine sculpture. The handcrafted grapevine is made with metal wire, resin hand-painted leaves, and crystal-beaded grape clusters. The grapevine sculptures, available in different sizes, are our favorite, but there will also be an exclusive selection of other original bead and wire sculptures for sale, too. Look for a beaded olive tree sculpture made with metal wire, shell-beaded leaves, and glass olives; a beautiful handmade stained glass votive candle holder made with burgundy, clear and green glass; and more.
Our friends at Saratoga Olive Oil Company will have a booth featuring different oils, balsamic vinegars and sea salts, all to taste! Look for their award-winning extra virgin olive oils from Spain that were just crushed in October 2013 and their Traditional Balsamic Condimento that is aged up to 18 years in oak barrels and imported from Modena, Italy. They will also have a Blood Orange fused olive oil that is produced through crushing the olives and fruit together at the mill, Tuscan Herb and garlic infused olive oil, and white balsamic vinegar also imported from Modena, Italy. Individual bottles will be for sale as well as a variety pack with little sampler bottles of different oils and vinegars.
What could go better with flavorful upstate wine than delicious upstate cheese? Worlding’s Pleasure will have their artisan-crafted cheeses and cheesecakes for sale. Their dips and spreads are made in small batches with quality local products such as Pika’s Farmtable Organic Basil Pesto, Olde Saratoga Brewery’s Black Hawk Stout, and Herkimer Foods Aged Cheddar Cheese. Check out their booth, sample their cheese spreads, and discover the world of locally made cheeses of the capital district!
Come to The Taste of Upstate festival and discover what these and other small businesses of our region have to offer as your Destination to Great Taste!
